The Great North Swim is the UK’s biggest open water swimming event. This year over 10,000 people took to the water and thousands joined to show their support over the three-day event held at Lake Windermere.
The perfect challenge for all abilities – from first-timers to Olympic champions, participants had the option of choosing from half a mile, one mile, two mile and five kilometer courses. The course started and finished on dry land with a run or walk into the water prior to stepping out to a tremendous cheer from the thousands of spectators waiting at the finish line.
The Soreen Team were up to their usual tricks and got well involved with the event by signing up to doing a 1-mile swim (which was a mighty task considering they weren’t the strongest of swimmers). Fuelled on Malt Loaf, the Soreen Team managed to complete the 1-mile course in a time of 55Minutes and 30Seconds – although they did look slightly out of breath upon crossing the finish line.
