Even the busiest of Mums have to let off steam and let their hair down every now and then, and there’s no better place for doing that than a family friendly festival. And to help you find one that’s perfect for you and your kids, Soreen has made a shortlist of this Summer’s best events from up and down the country.
Carfest North 31st July – 2nd Aug Oulton Park, Cheshire
& Carfest South 28th-30th Aug Laverstoke Park Farm, Hampshire
As you can probably guess from the names of these two, they feature cars, cars, and more cars. Classics, vintage, racing, stunt – if it’s got four tires and a steering wheel, you’ll probably find it here. You’ll also find big name music acts, lots of fun stuff for the kids and even an appearance from the Soreen yellow van, dispensing squidgy snacks to everyone. Plenty to drive you there then!
Wilderness 6-9August Oxfordshire
The perfect combination of nature, culture, music and great food in the stunning setting of Cornbury Park. Excellent line up this year too, with the legendary Bjork on the main stage, alongside the very popular Ben Howard and Roisin Murphy. And if you like your music with a dash more retro, catch veteran funksters Parliament.
Green Man 20 -23 August Brecon Beacons Wales
Around 99 locals beers and ciders on offer for mum and dad, along with hundreds of interactive workshops and performances for the kids. US singer-songwriter and Grammy winner St Vincent tops the line up with her unique indie pop sound.
Beautiful Days 21-23 August Devon
If you’ve never been to a festival before, this is a good place to start. Average attendance is relatively small at around 15,000 and the atmosphere is very family friendly. You might have to be ready to put your hands over your kid’s ears though when lively Celtic punks the Dropkick Murphys are on stage, so be warned!
Just So 21-23 August Cheshire
Described as ‘the kids festival that parents can tag along to’, this magical family favourite boasts a fairy city, gravity-defying circus tricks, aerial artistry and an awesome outdoor theatre. Art, music, literature, fun and fantasy in one huge kid-friendly package.
Shambala 27-30August Northamptonshire
No big name music acts, but loads of fun with a chilled out hippie vibe for kids and adults alike. Face painting and fancy dress are par for the course and huge hot tubs and a swing dancing flashmob are just two of the many attractions.
Jamie Oliver’s Big Festival 28-30 August The Cotswolds
A food and music extravaganza hosted by everyone’s favourite TV chef Jamie Oliver and Blur’s Alex James. Expect delicious gourmet treats at every turn and equally tasty music from Dizzee Rascal, Groove Armada and Paloma Faith. Apparently, the toilets are spotless too, which is never a bad thing.
Well, there are Soreen’s festival faves, and we hope there’s one that sounds right for your family. Book as soon as you can if you fancy it though, because all these events are very popular and coming up fast. Oh and one last thing, don’t forget to pack some deliciously squidgy Soreen snacks in your rucksack for when you and the kids need an energy boost. Whether it’s our handy Lunchbox Loaves or our famous Malt Loaf itself, just like these festivals, we’re also favourites with all the family!
